What - 1000m of total ascent* over approximately 15 miles of predominantly trail running, this is our Kernow twist to the Kilometer-of-Vertical ascent based races that are popular in mountainous areas like the Alps! Not having any mountains big enough in Cornwall for a Kilometer (1000m!!!) of ascent in one hit, this race is two figure-of-eight loops that take in some of the biggest climbs in the county... But unlike the usual mountain races that are uphill only, this includes 1000m of descent as well, to really test your legs! Expect some fast single track coastal running between hills too.... KVK Team - Enter the KVK Team race with a friend and split the full 15 mile route with 1000m ascent and descent - in half! One of you starts, does one full lap of the figure of eight route then swaps with your Team member for them to do the other figure of eight loop. Each member does 7.5 miles with 500m ascent and descent, starting and finishing each loop at the race start / finish line at the venue. The KVK Team race is exactly the same route as the full 15 mile race and takes place at the same time. Splitting the route in half enables those runners who prefer not to do the full race distance and height gain to be part of this unique event. If you have done any of the Summer Sessions you can do this!
Who - EVERYONE! This is a hard but achievable race open to all. We would encourage you to try the full distance as there is a very generous time limit of 5 hours!
The KVK Team race helps to make the event inclusive; if you don’t think you can manage 15 miles OR for the super fast runners that want to blast 7.5 miles - come and do it with a friend!

Golden Trail Series - The SALOMON KvK (Solo) is part of the 2024 UK Golden Trail Series! There are 5 races in the series, with the top 5 runners being invited to race each other in the UK Series Final, and the chance to win a trip to take part in the Golden Trail Grand Final in Italy!
New for 2024 is Under 23 category aswell as top 2 male and female Open category! Ranking information and rules are available via the UK Golden Trail Series page.
T-shirts… & Trees - We have followed suit with many other events and are offering T shirts as an extra that you can purchase online at time of entry or by editing your entry at a later date. These are just £10. We like participants to have a T shirt to commemorate the event BUT by setting this small charge we hope to minimise any wasted T shirts - either by ourselves having too many printed as we do not know the exact numbers until very near the race OR by some participants not actually wanting one in the first place and them not being worn or discarded. We are also now partnered with Trees not tees so you are able to choose to plant a tree as part of the race entry if you like - instead of or aswell as a T-shirt! Freedom Racing events largely take place off road, and can be on rough, rocky, muddy surfaces in potentially unforgiving outdoor locations and therefore have inherent risks associated with them. It is your responsibility to ensure you are fit and healthy to take part in them and aware of the nature of the event.
There are no refunds or substitutions for this event.
Places can be deferred to this or another event of a lesser or equivalent value with no refund on price given, until midday on 10th April 2024.
After this point no deferrals can be made. The value of this entry can be deferred towards a more expensive race entry.
* The route has been recce’d, researched, changed and measured to hit the 1000m ascent goal but not exceed it too much so the race total is as close to it as possible - though with a slight buffer to ensure it has a minimum ascent gain of 1000m. GPS watches will vary in elevation totals - the Ordnance Survey was our definitive source.
