What -  The South Point Trails Marathon & Half Marathon races are on the stunning Cornish coastline and follow the world famous South West Coastpath! Both races leave the Penrose Estate on forest tracks to the coastline, then head South!

The Half Marathon hugs the coast and takes runners through Gunwalloe Fishing Cove, Church Cove, Poldhu and Polurrian Cove to Mullion Cove, where the route is re-traced back to the Penrose and finish line in the event village.

The Marathon race follows the same route out to Mullion as the Half, but carries on through the windswept Predannack Cliffs, famous Kynance Cove and through the Lizard Village to Lizard Point, the most southerly point of mainland Britain! From here it follows the coastpath all the way back to the Penrose and finish line back inside the event village.

There are checkpoints with food and drink at Poldhu and Kynance, so accessed twice at by the Half Marathon runners (at Poldhu on out and back) and 4 times in total by the Marathon. To reduce waste both races are cupless - you will need to bring your own folding cup or hydration bottles to use during the race and at checkpoints. See HERE.

Who  -  Anyone! The South West Coastpath is well signed but will have extra race specific arrows on the route as well, and we are very happy for walkers to take part in either event.

The Penrose estate has been cared for by the National Trust since 1974, thanks to public support from many people including our members, visitors and team of volunteers.   With 17 miles of footpaths and bridleways to walk, pedal and ride, acres to explore, a bunkhouse for those group stays and a weekly parkrun, there is plenty to do all year round.   If you would like to support the National Trust’s work looking after the Penrose estate you can support their current coast path project, become a member or donate.  Find out more from www.nationaltrust.org.uk/penrose, www.nationaltrust.org.uk/activecornwall
